Factory video shoot: what to film for trade shows

What to film in one day for a factory video that works at trade fairs: campus, line, quality control, people. Deliverables list, shoot plan and how to choose a crew.

Factory video shoot: what to film for trade shows
A factory video that works at a trade fair needs five groups of shots in one day: the campus, the line running, quality control, people and a timelapse. CINEFY, a video production company in Da Nang, cuts a landscape version for the LED screen, a vertical version for social media and 15 to 30 second clips from that one shoot.

CINEFY, 179B Nguyen Cong Tru, An Hai, Son Tra, Da Nang, +84 779 771 234. More than 170 Google reviews with a 5.0 average (Google Business Profile, October 2026). The photos here come from two food processing plants in central Vietnam, shot in August and September 2026. This guide is for plant owners and marketing teams preparing a video for a trade fair, and it leads to CINEFY’s corporate video production in Da Nang page.

Which videos should one factory shoot produce?

Start from the deliverables list, not the shots. A fair needs a looping version for the LED screen, partners need a company film to watch properly, and social media needs short vertical clips. All three are cut from the same shoot day, so the day must capture enough from the start. Shoot landscape and leave breathing room around the subject so you can also cut 9:16 vertical frames.

Campus and drone: when to fly and who to ask?

Aerial drone photo of a green-roofed factory campus in the central Vietnam plains
One drone frame of a whole factory campus in central Vietnam: the opening shot that shows scale before the camera goes inside.

A drone shows scale before the viewer goes inside, so it is usually the opening shot of the company film. Fly two frames, one high wide shot and one low pass along the roofline, about 30 to 40 minutes in total during good light. Low morning or late afternoon sun gives clearer roofs and shadows than midday. Flying before asking is the quickest way to lose half a day: you need the owner’s consent, in an industrial park the park management too, and the rules change every year, so read the latest in our Vietnam drone laws 2026 guide. The drone in CINEFY’s catalogue for this kind of shot is the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, see drone rental in Da Nang.

The production line while it runs: film it running or stopped?

Filmed while the line was running: movement and people, which a stopped line cannot give you.

Every company film needs the line actually running, because movement and people are what make a plant look alive. A stopped line only suits a few wide, clean angles. Film at three distances: wide for scale, medium for the work, close on hands, packaging and inspection screens for the vertical cut-downs. For the quality check, ask the supervisor to let you film the real procedure, not a staged one.

For the timelapse, put a camera on a fixed angle that covers the whole line, let it run through the shift and cut it to 10 to 20 seconds. Set it up at the start of the day, because it needs the most time.

Sound and light on a factory floor: how to handle noise and flicker?

Boom mic held close to the sound source and a camera on a tripod in the middle of a processing hall, with a supplementary light near the frame
A boom mic placed close to the source inside the hall, camera on a tripod, a supplementary light near the frame.

A plant is loud, so record interview speech with a mic close to the mouth or in a quiet corner, and put a boom right at the source for machine sound. At the end of the day record a few minutes of room tone so the edit stays continuous. Many plants accept a voice-over instead of live speech, so ask first and save the recording effort. If you record sound yourself, see our guide to 32-bit float recorders.

LED or fluorescent plant lights can flicker on camera. Mains power in Vietnam is 50 Hz, so try a shutter of 1/50 or 1/100 second and check the monitor for rolling bands. When you need extra light, use a tube or a small panel to fill shadows on faces instead of fighting the plant’s lights. A set that suits this in CINEFY’s catalogue: Sony FX3 with the FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II, a Sennheiser MKH 416 on a boom pole, and Nanlite PavoTube lights, see lighting rental in Da Nang.

Filming in a food plant: what does the crew wear and bring in?

At both of these processing plants the CINEFY crew wore the workers’ own protective gear: coat, hair cover and boots.

Food plants have their own rules on protective gear, gloves, boots and clean zones. Ask the plant for the list in advance, with two questions: does gear need to be wiped or disinfected before entering, and which areas are off limits because of recipes or confidential processes. Bring compact kit with few dangling accessories, because anything that touches the floor must be clean. Tell workers who will be in frame beforehand and ask the supervisor about their image rights.

What does a shoot day look like, and how do you count back from the fair?

Factory shoot day plan in six steps: safety briefing, campus drone, timelapse setup, line and quality check, interviews, room tone and file check
A six-step reference plan: the real order follows machine shifts and each plant’s rules.

The plan above is a reference frame. Real times follow the machine shifts and each plant’s rules, so always leave room for waiting on shifts and asking the supervisor’s permission.

About the fair: VIMF’s Bac Ninh leg runs 4 to 6 November 2026, 9:00 to 17:00, at Kinh Bac Cultural Center, per the VIMF exhibition schedule. As of this update on 6 October 2026, that is 29 days away. Lock the shoot date within the next few days to leave room for editing, review and exporting the landscape, vertical and subtitled versions. CINEFY films at the factory, and CINEFY does not take on event organising or full event coverage: the fair is only where your film is shown.

Choosing a factory video crew: six criteria and how to verify them

CriterionHow to verify
Finished factory films you can watchAsk to see one or two complete films and which industry they were shot in; client names are not needed.
Names specific gear for each type of shotAsk for camera, lens, drone, mic and light names, whether the gear is already booked for your date, and how long a replacement takes if a unit fails.
A safety and hygiene routineAsk what they wear and bring into the plant and which areas they ask permission for; look for real behind-the-scenes photos.
A line-item quoteThe quote separates shoot day, drone, edit, each vertical cut and subtitles. CINEFY quotes within 24 hours of the brief.
A fixed deliverables listThe 16:9 and 9:16 versions, lengths, subtitle language and number of revision rounds are written into the quote.

Eight answers to have before booking a shoot

CINEFY uses this list to quote within 24 hours. Sending it ahead means fewer surprises on the day:

  1. Where will the video be used: trade fair, website, partners, recruitment or internal training?
  2. Who will watch: domestic buyers, importers or investors?
  3. The main message in one or two sentences: scale, certifications, automation level, export experience.
  4. Plant address, number of halls to film, and whether there are several sites.
  5. Which areas cannot be filmed?
  6. During filming, will the line run or be stopped?
  7. Do you need campus drone shots and a timelapse?
  8. Who is interviewed, in which language, and do you need English subtitles?

Frequently asked questions

How many days does a factory shoot take?

It depends on the number of halls and sites. A single-hall plant usually fits one main shoot day; a plant with several blocks or sites adds days for travel and waiting on shifts. CINEFY confirms the number after receiving the answers to the eight questions above.

Do we have to stop the production line?

No. The most important shot is the line running with real people working. If you want close angles or a quality check, ask the supervisor for a short pause and agree in advance which areas can be filmed.

Can you film at night or in a cold store?

In principle yes, but agree it first. Night shifts need extra light and a safety plan. Cold stores need the temperature, the maximum time inside, and time for the camera to acclimatise, because gear carried in from outside will fog.

Do you make versions in English, Japanese or Korean?

English subtitles come with the main version. For other languages, send an approved translation; CINEFY sets it into the film as ordered and quotes that item separately.

Does CINEFY film at the trade fair itself?

No. CINEFY does not take on event organising or full event coverage. CINEFY films at the factory, and the fair is only where the film is shown. For event gear, see our event filming equipment guide.

How much does a factory shoot cost?

Each plant has its own variables: number of halls, deliverables, drone, subtitle languages. So CINEFY does not publish a flat price and instead quotes each line item within 24 hours of receiving the brief.

Do we need permission to fly a drone at an industrial park?

Yes. You need the owner’s consent and, in an industrial park, the park management too. Flight rules change every year, so read the latest in our Vietnam drone laws 2026 guide.

Need a company film for your next trade fair?
