1. What does it cost to rent film gear in Da Nang?
CINEFY publishes transparent VND pricing for every item and package, with USD quotes on request for international crews. Rather than vague ranges, you get the exact day rate for each body, lens set, and lighting kit before you commit — and all-inclusive combo packages that bundle camera, lenses, lighting, audio, grip and a professional crew at a significant saving versus renting piece by piece.
At CINEFY we publish transparent VND pricing on our equipment rental page and provide USD conversion for international clients. Quote requests return within one working day — usually within one hour during office time (GMT+7).
All-inclusive combo packages (day rate, crew included):
| Combo package | What's inside | Day rate (VND) |
|---|---|---|
| Package S | Camera full package + lenses + lighting + audio + grip + 2 crew | 3,500K |
| Package M | Expanded kit + 3 crew | 6,900K |
| Package L | Dual-camera setup + 6 crew | 12,500K |
| Package XL | RED KOMODO X as A-cam + 10 crew + private delivery vehicle | 22,000K |
Combo packages save 33–39% versus renting each item individually. Individual item rates (body-only, lens sets, lighting fixtures) are listed with transparent VND pricing on the equipment rental page.
Multi-day bookings get transparent discounts — up to 35% off for 10+ day rentals — and the discount applies to all packages. Bundling gear with our studio and in-house crew compounds the saving: combo packages run 33–39% below the cost of renting each item separately.
Need exact numbers? Message +84 77 977 1234 on WhatsApp/Zalo with your dates and shot list — we'll reply with a full quote.

3. Cinema cameras: RED KOMODO X, Sony FX6, Blackmagic
CINEFY's cinema camera line-up is built around three workhorses that cover most production needs in 2026. Here is how to choose between them.
RED KOMODO X — when you need the RED look
The RED KOMODO X is CINEFY's flagship A-cam, released in 2024 as the successor to the original KOMODO. Key differences versus its predecessor: a new global-shutter-capable sensor behaviour, higher frame-rate modes, improved rolling-shutter performance, and refined REDCODE workflow.
Best for:
- Commercial TVCs where clients want the RED look on a budget
- Narrative short films and music videos
- High-contrast daylight exteriors
- Slow motion up to the advertised 6K modes
- Projects that will grade in DaVinci Resolve
Considerations:
- PL-mount or RF-mount — CINEFY has both
- Power draw is higher than mirrorless — plan battery count accordingly
- Needs support rig, EVF, and wireless — rent as a full package, not body-only
Not sure whether to pick the KOMODO X or the FX6? Message our gear team with your shoot type and we'll recommend the right body for the job.
Sony FX6 — the documentary and commercial workhorse
The Sony FX6 is the most rented camera in CINEFY's fleet. It is a full-frame Super 35 camera with dual-base ISO (800/12800), making it ideal for mixed-light conditions — interiors with practical lighting, exteriors at magic hour, and documentary shoots where you can't control the light.
Best for:
- Documentary and factual shooting
- Corporate and interview work
- Commercial B-roll
- Low-light scenes where KOMODO would need a massive rig
- Solo operators and small crews
Sony FX3 and FX30 — for small crews and run-and-gun
The Sony FX3 and FX30 are CINEFY's recommendations for one-operator shoots, travel documentaries along the Central Vietnam coast, and productions where packability matters. Both bodies share the FX6 codec while slimming down the form factor to a mirrorless body.
Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K
For productions that want Blackmagic RAW and URSA-style colour science on a smaller body, CINEFY keeps a Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K in rotation. Popular with indie productions and music videos.
4. Lenses, support, and accessories
Renting a body alone rarely gets you to set — a full camera package needs lenses, support, monitors, media, and power. CINEFY offers three standard lens tiers:
- Photo zoom tier (Canon L-series 16-35 / 24-70 / 70-200): budget-friendly, fast to set up, fine for docs and corporate
- Sigma Cine Zoom tier (18-35mm T2): a CINEFY favourite for commercial shoots — one zoom that covers 80% of narrative framing at cinema-grade optical quality
- Cinema prime tier (Canon CN-E set, Sony G-Master primes rehoused): for narrative work that benefits from character and T-stop precision
Support & accessories typically rented alongside cameras:
- SmallHD monitor (5" and 7")
- V-mount plate and batteries (4–8 per camera per day)
- CFexpress cards (1–2 per day) or RED mini-mag (per package)
- Mattebox with 4×5.65 filter tray
- Cinema follow focus or DJI Focus Pro
- Tripod with fluid head rated for payload
- Quick-release plate and dovetail base
CINEFY's rental team will always propose a complete package rather than just a body — letting you know what's missing for your shoot requirements is part of the service.
5. Lighting: Aputure, Godox, and the full grip kit
Central Vietnam's light is beautiful but unforgiving — harsh midday sun, rapid golden-hour transitions, and humid interior conditions. CINEFY's lighting fleet is built around Aputure and Godox professional fixtures with a full grip/electric department kit.
Key fixtures:
- Aputure LS 600x Pro (daylight, big punch-through)
- Aputure LS 600c Pro (full colour, for interiors and mood)
- Aputure 300X and 300D II (mid-tier key/fill)
- Aputure Nova P300c (RGB panel)
- Godox SL-150W II (budget continuous)
- Small LED panels and tube lights for accents
Modifiers:
- Softboxes of all sizes (Lantern, octa, rectangular)
- Umbrellas
- Grid, honeycomb
- Flags, nets, cutters
- Diffusion (full, half, quarter)
- Bounce boards (silver, white, black)
Grip / electric:
- C-stands (15+ in fleet)
- Combo stands for heavy heads
- Sandbags
- Apple boxes
- Gaffer tape, expendables
Lighting rental is usually priced per fixture-day with discounts on bundled kits. For a standard interior interview we recommend a 2-light + bounce board kit; for a small TVC a 4-light cinema kit. Crews flying in for DANAFF and shooting nearby after the festival typically pre-book a full week of lighting to lock availability.
6. Sound recording and on-set audio
Good production sound is impossible without the right kit. CINEFY's audio department carries:
- Sennheiser MKH 416 — the industry-standard shotgun for dialogue booming
- Rode NTG4+ — a more affordable shotgun alternative
- Sennheiser EW wireless kits — two- and four-channel lavalier systems
- Zoom F6 and F8n Pro field recorders with 32-bit float recording
- Boom poles, blimps, deadcat windshields
- Lavalier clips, rycote invisible mounts
- Headphones and monitoring
If you need a location sound mixer on top of the gear, CINEFY can arrange one through our crew network — request it in the same quote.
7. How to rent as an international crew
International crews can rent from CINEFY with English communication, PayPal or wire transfer payment, and a standard insurance or deposit — no local company setup required. Here is the fast path.
Step 1 — Send your dates and list
WhatsApp or email us a rough kit list and shoot dates (email: [email protected]; WhatsApp: +84 77 977 1234). We check availability the same working day and reply with a quote in USD (or your preferred currency) and VND.
Step 2 — Confirm with deposit
Lock the gear with a booking deposit paid by international wire, PayPal, or Wise. Balance is due on pickup day — payable in cash (USD or VND), card, or pre-arranged transfer. A refundable security deposit of 20% of the equipment value applies (waived with a valid production insurance certificate) and is returned in full when the gear comes back in good condition.
Step 3 — Insurance and damage cover
Two paths:
- Production insurance certificate — if your production has a policy, send us the certificate naming CINEFY as additional insured and there is no extra fee.
- Damage deposit — without insurance, we hold a refundable damage deposit depending on the package value. Returned in full within 48 hours of gear return if everything checks out.
Step 4 — Pickup at CINEFY or delivery to set
Pick up at CINEFY's base in Da Nang or, for crews staying at partner hotels, we can deliver to your hotel or shoot location for a small fee. First-time international crews usually prefer pickup — it lets us walk through the kit with your operator and swap anything if needed.
Step 5 — Return
Return at the end of your booking window. We do a condition check together. Damage deposits refund within 48 hours.
No language barriers: CINEFY's rental desk and senior crew operate fluently in English. For other languages we can arrange translators through our network.
Permits and fixer support: Shooting in Vietnam requires specific permits depending on the location and content. CINEFY offers a full production service that handles permits, location scouting, local crew sourcing, and on-the-ground logistics. See our dedicated page: CINEFY Video Production for international crews.
8. Day rates, weekly rates, and crew bundles
CINEFY prices rentals on a day-rate basis, with transparent discounts for longer bookings:
- 1 day — standard day rate
- Multi-day — automatic discounts that grow with the booking length, up to 35% off for 10+ days
- Weekly and multi-week — custom quote with the multi-day discount applied
A "day" is a standard 8–10 operational hours; overtime runs +30% per hour. Prices include free delivery within Da Nang city.
Crew bundles. CINEFY's in-house crew (DOP, Gaffer, AC, sound mixer, production assistant) is available as a bundle with gear at reduced package rates. For international productions unfamiliar with Central Vietnam, booking at least a local PA or gaffer is strongly recommended — they know the locations, the permits, and which beach villages will have stable power.
Request a crew bundle by mentioning role + experience level in your quote request.
9. Pickup, delivery, and damage policy
Pickup happens at CINEFY's base in Da Nang during office hours (08:00–18:00 GMT+7). Out-of-hours pickup is possible with prior arrangement.
Delivery is free within Da Nang city (15 km radius). Hoi An and surrounding areas carry a small delivery fee (+200–500K VND); Package XL includes a private delivery vehicle at no extra charge. All equipment is tested before delivery and ships with backup batteries and media cards. For more remote locations (Hue, Central Highlands, Quang Binh caves), delivery is quoted case-by-case.
Damage policy. CINEFY treats gear like its own because that's exactly what it is. The damage policy is straightforward:
- Normal wear-and-tear: no charge
- Minor cosmetic damage (scratch on housing): logged, no charge unless recurring
- Functional damage (broken LCD, water ingress, impact damage): charged at replacement-parts cost
- Total loss: charged at replacement value (pre-agreed in the rental contract)
Renters are responsible for gear once it leaves CINEFY's base until return. We strongly recommend either a production insurance certificate or a damage deposit — whichever fits your production structure better.
10. Shooting in Central Vietnam — what to know
Da Nang is the most accessible production base in Central Vietnam, with an international airport (DAD) served by direct flights from Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, Taipei, and major Chinese cities. From Da Nang, you can reach:
- Hoi An (30 min drive) — UNESCO ancient town, lantern-lit alleys, riverside setups
- My Son sanctuary (1 hour) — Cham temple ruins, jungle
- Hue (2 hours) — Imperial city, Perfume River, royal tombs
- Son Tra peninsula (20 min) — ocean cliffs, monastery, pristine beaches
- Marble Mountains (15 min) — limestone outcrops and cave temples
- Ba Na Hills (45 min) — Golden Bridge, high-altitude resort
- Phong Nha caves (4 hours) — world's largest caves, jungle rivers
For productions that want tropical coast, mountains, and ancient culture within one drive radius, Central Vietnam is hard to beat.
Practical production notes:
- Power in tourist areas is generally reliable; rural locations may need a genny
- Monsoon season runs roughly September–December — plan shoots around it
- Permits are required for most commercial shoots and are simpler with a local fixer
- Drone operation requires specific permits — DO NOT fly on assumption
- Morning light is consistently beautiful on the beach; afternoon brings haze in summer
CINEFY's production service handles permits, location scouting, and local logistics — see our video production page for details.
11. DANAFF 2026 — working with CINEFY during the festival
DANAFF 4 (Da Nang Asian Film Festival) runs 28 June – 4 July 2026. Around 200 international filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals are expected, with the US film industry in focus. Many delegates extend their trips to shoot content or scout future productions in Vietnam.
If you are attending DANAFF and want to shoot before, during, or after the festival:
- Lock gear early — the festival window is CINEFY's busiest period of the year. Camera packages for end of June / first week of July should be confirmed by 1 June 2026 at the latest.
- Consider a studio day — CINEFY's 360 m² studio can host interviews, talking-head pieces, and podcast-style coverage for festival content.
- Book a fixer in advance — see CINEFY Video Production to have locations, permits, and local crew ready when you land.
- Meet the team at the festival — CINEFY will have a production office active during DANAFF. Message us to schedule a meeting or studio tour.
Festival attendees get priority booking slots for rentals that overlap with DANAFF dates. Message us with "DANAFF 2026" in the subject and we'll expedite the quote.
